First Shave

Keeping to my resolution of making a new post for this blog every single day is so difficult. Right now, the time is about 11:00 pm and I haven't even started homework yet (at least I don't have too much homework). I would much rather play one game of Starcraft II (I actually haven't even played yet today), or just go to sleep. However, I can't break my resolution on the second day, so I'm going to finish typing up this post.

But because today was more or less a regular school day, nothing blog-worthy happened. Therefore, as you can read in the title of this post, I'm going to talk about my first time ever shaving yesterday.

A while ago, around the time school started this year, I complained once to my mom that I was starting to grow a mustache. I was half joking, but a week or two later, she actually buys a good electronic razor which she says costed around $50! My mom also told me that facial hair grows faster after each shave. I have no idea whether or not this is true, but it certainly did prevent me from shaving for many weeks.

Luckily, at the time, my facial hair was pretty much invisible and it was barely growing at all. I ignored my facial hair until a couple of days ago (or maybe a week ago), when my friend Tim (he's not really friend, he's super annoying, and we mostly ignore him), suddenly started talking about how my friend Bob (actual legitimate friend, but really nerdy and Chinese) and I don't shave.

I mostly ignored his comments, but I started feeling self-conscious about my facial hair nevertheless. Finally yesterday, I decided that my facial hair was too visible and needed to be cut. I had no idea how to use an electronic razor. It turns out all you do is push the on button and move it across your face. The funny thing is I had no idea whether or not the razor was actually removing my facial hair or even if I was using it correctly.

But in the end, everything turned out fine. My facial hair did disappear, and just like most other aspect of life, it wasn't as exciting as I had thought.

Resolution #1: A Post a Day

Yes, I know that I haven't posted anything in two weeks. The main problem once again is that school. School takes up most of my day, and homework takes up another big chunk of my time. Even after homework, I still have to practice piano. With the tiny bit of time that I have left each day, I can either choose to play Starcraft II or type up a blog post. After already doing so much writing and typing for school, doing more typing for this blog never seems as attractive as Starcraft II.

On top of this, my dad recently cut off my internet again. I think this happened on Wednesday, or maybe Thursday. Anyways, he was home very early that day, and my little brother was annoying me. My little brother always wants to see everything that I do on my computer, even if I'm not playing. After awhile of chasing my little brother out of my room, I finally decided to lock him out.

The door to my room actually doesn't have a lock, probably so that I can't lock my parents out of my room. However, long ago I figured out that I could move my old desk to block the door, which made it much harder for my little brother to open the door.

Even though the old desk did prevent my little brother from entering my room, it also caused him to start throwing a fit. He banged really hard on my door and started crying really loudly (he actually does this a lot). My dad heard all of the commotion and immediately turned off my internet. I even went downstairs and asked him about my internet. All he replied was somewhere along the lines of, "I don't know. I didn't do it. I can't fix it. Go away."

Finally, I decided to ask him to turn my internet back on yesterday night, and as always, he had forgotten that he even turned it off. Now you might be wondering how all of this has anything to do with the title of this post. Let me explain.

I've thought a lot about how to change my life so that I can have a better future, and I've decided that it's impossible to change everything all at once. Therefore, I'll slowly change myself by creating resolutions one at a time.

My first resolution is going to be that I'm going to upload one post to this blog everyday, no matter how busy I am. Of course, I don't have to follow this resolution under special circumstances such as no internet. The reason why I chose blogging everyday to be my first resolution is because of how important this blog is to me. I can record all of my thoughts and life experiences so that I might one day be able to tie everything together and decide what to do with my life.

A Day to Think

Tomorrow, I plan on doing absolutely nothing.

The reason why I'm planning on doing nothing is because I really need time to think over all of my problems. I've got tons of problems with perfection, my career and future, my current schoolwork, my body, time management, and more. During very busy schooldays, I have pretty much no time to think about anything other than my homework. Therefore, I thought that this Sunday would be the perfect day to fix everything.

In fact, even my mom believes that I need a day to think over my problems. She agreed to cancel my writing lesson today for me to have more time to finish my homework. This way, I wouldn't have to worry about homework tomorrow.

Unfortunately, nothing ever goes as planned, so I still haven't started homework yet (mainly because I've been playing too much Starcraft II). Anyways, I can do my homework tomorrow and still have most of the day left tomorrow for thinking.

My biggest concern, along with the homework that I now have to do tomorrow, is controlling myself from playing Starcraft II. Being so busy with school seems to make the temptation for Starcraft II even more irresistible. In fact, last week, during labor day weekend, I had wanted to spend time to think and perfect myself, but Starcraft II completely ate up all of my time.

Of course, as I think through all of my problems tomorrow, I will be recording all of my thoughts and resolutions on this blog so that I will never forget. Also, I haven't gotten the chance to talk about anything that happened over the past week, so I'm going to catch up on all of the important events that happened last week as well.

Be sure to expect a ton of new posts tomorrow!

Procrastination

I know I haven't posted anything in six days, but school has really been busy. Along with Starcraft II and piano practice, finding time for this blog is getting harder and harder. Surprisingly, finding the motivation to write an entire blog post is harder than finding the motivation for a Starcraft II match.

Anyways, two and a half weeks of school has already passed and I'm already not doing too well. Along with all of the small mistakes that I've mentioned in multiple previous posts, my grades aren't the best and I'm already starting to get sleep deprived.

Everyone knows that procrastination is very bad and is the number one cause of sleep deprivation (second being the internet). However, during a busy school week, finding time not to procrastinate is really hard. First of all, there is always the temptation to play a few Starcraft II matches or surf the internet, which can eat away tons of precious homework time. Second, even with major projects or lab reports due multiple days later, other classes still assigns loads of homework.

For example, in the previous week of school, I've been getting an average of around six hours of sleep. I had two tests in chemistry and math, both on Thursday. We also had over 50 chemistry textbook problems due on the same day as well. Then in English, a typed and revised in-class essay about Haroun and the Sea of Stories that we wrote two Fridays ago was also due on Thursday. By typed and revised I mean completely revamp the essay.

Even though Thursday has a ton of tests and major assignments due, it isn't the only stressful day. After the conference on Monday, I had to revise my summer creative writing piece asap. We also started reading The Jungle in history class starting on Monday. We read around two chapters a day with a page of notes per chapter, which takes around 30 to 60 minutes every single day of the week. And of course, there is always constant math and Spanish homework that takes 30 to 60 minutes apiece.

With all of this homework, as well as cross country practice eating up two hours of my time every single day, how do you expect me not to procrastinate? Nevertheless, procrastinating and constantly losing sleep is not a sustainable way to do school.

For next week, I'm hoping to minimize procrastination by completing as many assignments that are due next week as possible over this labor day weekend so that I won't have to do it all during the school week. Theoretically, the plan is great, but in reality, I've pretty much done nothing these two days except for preparing for my writing lesson on Saturday and Starcraft II arcade games with my friend Kentaro (who I'll talk about in a later post).
